Betty Varnum, 86, long-time resident of Metropolis, IL, passed away Friday, March 27, 2020. She was born in San Francisco, California on April 26, 1933 to Marcella and John Cameron.

Betty was a professional seamstress for most of her life. She was an avid Horsewoman, participating in the 9 Day Trail Ride and Oregon Trail Ride. She loved camping and horseback riding with her many friends. Betty enjoyed playing Bridge and had a strong interest in public service, running for County Commissioner numerous times.

Betty is survived and loved by her 6 children; 10 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
