Mrs. Betty Douglas, age 85, of Metropolis, passed away at 9:40 a.m. on Friday, December 27, 2013 at her home.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Waldo Baptist Church in Metropolis. Rev. Jack D. Russell and George Bates will officiate. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.Betty was a homemaker, a member of the Waldo Baptist Church, where she served the Lord by baking pies, taking meals to the sick and shut ins of the church, and by helping prepare and serve the funeral dinners at the church.She is survived by her daughter, Dawn Kennedy and husband Kenneth of Metropolis; her son, Britt Neal Douglas and wife Rita of Metropolis; 2 grandsons, Christopher Britt Douglas and wife Crystal of Calvert City, KY, and Timothy Edward Douglas and wife Angie of Golconda; 1 granddaughter, Kimberly Taylor and husband Russ of Metropolis; 10 great-grandchildren, Cody, Montana, Grace, Noah, Emily, Joshua, and Victoria Taylor all of Metropolis and Cadence and Paisley Douglas both of Golconda, Coraline Douglas of Calvert City, KY; 2 sisters, Donna Burkhead and Eleanor Windhorst both of Metropolis; 1 brother, Jim Fulkerson and wife Barbara of Humboldt, TN; several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, Roby and Elizabeth (Cox) Fulkerson; husband, Edward Douglas; 3 infant great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Clara Mae Steel, Rosalie Fulkerson, Virginia Bates, and Lillian Miller; 1 infant sister; 2 infant brothers; 3 brothers, Roby Fulkerson Jr., Robert Fulkerson and Floyd Fulkerson.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at the Waldo Baptist Church.Memorials may be made to Waldo Baptist Church 6970 Waldo Church Rd.
