Betty Joann Dyer Atkinson, age 86 of Metropolis, IL, passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at the Metropolis Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

A celebration of life will be planned for a later date. There are no services at this time.

Betty attended St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Metropolis.

Betty is survived by her siblings, Alice C. Smock, Florence Ishmo, Jean Mercer, Butch Dyer, Nora (Donald) Baker, and Gary Dyer along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Garth Edgar and Pauline Isabell Dyer; husband, David Atkinson; and siblings, Mabel, Mary, Gracie, Ruth, Eddie and Tommy.
