Alma Lou Souders, age 88, of Brookport, IL, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Baptist Health of Paducah.Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at the Brookport Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Bealmear and Rev. Jon Cockrel officiating. Burial will follow in Pell Cemetery.Mrs. Souders was a founding member of the Brookport chapter of Beta Sigma Phi and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Metropolis. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family.Alma is survived by 4 children, Mike Souders and wife Carla, Bill Ed Souders and wife Vickie, Mark Souders and wife Suzanne, and Tammy Beggs and husband Mike all of Metropolis; 1 daughter-in-law, Donna Souders of Brookport; 10 grandchildren, Leslie Jo Lawson and husband Tim of Metropolis, Ashley Thompson and husband Glen of Metropolis, Angie Jackson and husband Jeff of Indianapolis, IN, Maranda Souders of Metropolis, Chad Souders and wife Mendi of Metropolis, Casey Souders of Birmingham, AL, Natalie Souders of Metropolis, Amy Krueger and husband Jared of Metropolis, Candace Gibson and husband John of Fort Thomas, KY, and Andrew Beggs of Decatur, AL; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Violet Lee Rogers of Jeffersonville, IN, and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, Verbal (Stokes) and Rollie Jennings Sr.; husband Joe Souders; 1 son, Pat Souders; and 1 brother, Rollie Jennings Jr.Visitation will be held on Saturday evening January 3, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Brookport Funeral Home.Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to the First United Methodist Church 105 E. 5th Street Metropolis, IL 62960.Online condolences may be left at www.aikinsfarmer-millerfh.com.
