Ms. Alma Irene Schneider, age 91, of Metropolis, IL, passed away at 12:10 a.m. on Friday, February 21, 2014 at Southgate Nursing and Rehab Center.Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 23, 2014, at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home with John Schneider officiating. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.Alma was a member of the First Baptist Church and she taught Sunday School for many years. She also volunteered at the American Red Cross, Happy Hearts, and the Good Samaritan Nursing Home for over 20 years. Alma enjoyed playing every game imaginable with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.Alma is survived by 3 children, Robert V. Schneider, Danny A. Schneider and wife Ann, and Sonya K. Schneider all of Metropolis; 8 grandchildren Beth Durbin and husband Tracy of Almo, KY, John Schneider and wife Orleta of Cape Girardeau, MO, Mark Schneider and wife Emily of Brookport, Lori Harris and husband Nathan of Hermitage, TN, Lynn Goines and husband Jason of Metropolis, Tim Arnold and wife Amy of Godfrey, IL, Ashley Brown and husband Markus of Metropolis, and Corey Johnston and wife Andrea of Collinsville, IL; 17 great grandchildren, Elysa Elkins and husband Jamie, Shelby Durbin, Avery Rayfield, Zavier Schneider, Gracen Rayfield, Breanna Norin, Eli Harris, Ella Harris, Ethan Goines, Emma Goines, Gus Arnold, Sam Arnold, Nickayly English, Dathan English, Kaylor Brown, Dorian Brown, Emma Johnston; 2 great-great grandchildren, Will Elkins and Chloe Sanders; 4 sisters, Eulean Baker, Lenoris Russell, Merna Shepler all of Metropolis, and Ellen O. Orr of Louisville, KY; 1 brother, J.B. Henson and wife Marge of Yuma, AZ; 2 sister-in-laws, Maxine Schneider and Doris Reinhardt and husband Ed; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends, Caitlin Krueger and Cheryl Shreves.She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Nana (Throgmorton) Henson; husband Robert S.
