Alfred Neill, age 72 of Metropolis, Illinois passed away at 8:38 am on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 7 pm on Sunday, August 19, 2018 at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home in Metropolis. Darryl Neill will officiate. Burial services with military rites will be held at 12:30 pm on Monday, August 20, 2018 at Mound City National Cemetery.

Alfred was retired from Laidlaw Corporation after 27 years of service. He was a member of Joppa Missionary Baptist Church and a United States Navy Veteran serving during the Vietnam War.

Alfred is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sharon Neill; son, Darryl Neill and wife Renee; daughter, Sarah Goddard and husband Bruce; grandchildren, Heather Baumgart and fiancé Jay Dowd, Josh Neill, Jayde-Marie Goddard, Jamison Goddard; great grandchildren, Lexi Baumgart, Riley Baumgart, Blakelee Dowd, Cutler Dowd, Delaney Dowd; sisters, Darlene Melcher and husband Don and Yolanda Sue Blanton all of Metropolis; several nieces and nephews.

Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, Lavell "Dub" Neill and Vera (Deen) Smith; brothers, Kenneth Ray Neill, Bruce Wayne Neill, Ricky Alan Neill.

Visitation will be held on Sunday evening August 19, 2018 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home in Metropolis.
