Steve Cromeenes Obituary

Steve Cromeenes, age 61, passed away on January 10, 2017 at 6:27 a.m. with his family by his side. He was born in Paducah, KY to Paul and Dorothy "Dot" Cromeenes on September 25, 1955.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2017 at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home with Dr. Joe Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.

He was married to his loving wife, Peggy Yates Cromeenes on June 15, 1979 for 37 years. They have one son, Lucas Cromeenes.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy and son, Lucas; one sister, Paula Neely (Leonard) of Brookport, IL; brothers-in-law, Roy Yates (Sandra), Louis Yates (Bert), Rocky Yates (Debbie) all of Metropolis, Dale Yates (Stacey) of Percy, IL; sisters-in-law, Faye Piland (Bill) of Springfield, IL, Donna Kaye Beevers, (Gary) of Booneville, IN and Sandy Moats (Ron) of Galva, IL.

He accepted the Lord as his Savior at the age of 28. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Metropolis for 20 years where he enjoyed working in the broadcast/tv ministry and loved when the children of FBC called him, "Milkman and Mr. Steve".

Steve was a devoted husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend.

One of the joys in Steve's life was watching his son Lucas compete and play golf, and the highlight was watching Lucas win the Irvin Cobb Championship tournament that Steve himself had played in for many years. He also enjoyed announcing at the basketball and football games for Massac County and McCracken County for many years.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 13 from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m. at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home.

"We would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Randy Oliver for him being there for us through Steve's illness to the very end, Dr. Grubber and the staff at Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center and the many family and friends that prayed for us."

Memorial contributions may be given to the First Baptist Church Building Fund 307 Massac Creek Road Metropolis, IL 62960.
