Ruth Hannah Stamme

Mrs. Ruth Hannah (Korte) Stamme, age 80, of Metropolis, IL, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center in Paducah.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2017, at the Lutheran Church of the Cross in Metropolis with Rev. David Deem officiating. A private burial will be held.

Mrs. Stamme was baptized, confirmed and married at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church and is a member of Lutheran Church of the Cross where she belonged to the Dorcas Quilters group which makes then ships quilts worldwide.

Ruth is survived by her husband of 62 years, Eugene Stamme; four children, Beth Hunt, Barbara Copley, Greg Stamme and wife Kathy and Andy Stamme and wife Debbie; 12 grandchildren, Amy Rojas and husband Juan, Travis Stamme, Katie Hudspeth and husband Joey, Michelle Skidmore and husband Mike, and Kim Eckenberg and husband Cyrus, Michael Gallagher and wife Jennifer, Jessica Hunt, Justin Hunt and wife Christine, Courtney Copley, Brooke Copley, Derick Stamme, Braden Stamme; 6 great grandchildren; sister, Mary Ann Cromeenes and husband Jim; brother, Walter Korte and wife Wanda; numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson and Vernita (Buldtman) Korte; and son-in-law, Brent Hunt.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis and from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 6, at the Lutheran Church of the Cross.

Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105-9959. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
