Richard Margherio Obituary
Richard Margherio age 92 of Metropolis, IL passed away December 16, 2016 at the Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, KY. He was born March 15, 1924 to Pietro and Catherine (Graciano) Margherio. Richard was a member of St Rose of Lima Catholic Church and a World War II Army Veteran.
Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at 10 a.m. at St Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Metropolis with Father Michael Mujule officiating. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens with military rites.
Richard is survived by his children Cindy Parrino and husband John of Marietta, GA, Nancy Hess and husband Ron of Cape Girardeau, MO, Tony Margherio and wife Brenda of Metropolis, IL, Kathy Prescott and husband Jim of Metropolis, IL, Mary Ann Mittendorf and husband Wally of Metropolis, IL, and Lisa Margherio and partner Merry Miller of Quincy, IL.
Grandchildren, Rodney Edwards, Meredith Moreland, Missy Quint, Kristi Cavaness, Scott Margherio, Drew Prescott, Andy Margherio, Kasey Prescott, Seth Mittendorf, and Dalton Mittendorf.
Great grandchildren, Christian Cavaness, Neely Quint, Jake Edwards, Corey Cavaness, Chloe Quint, Nick Edwards, Eli Quint, Bryson Edwards, Noah Prescott, and Finn Prescott. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and one special friend Ruth Riegger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 65 years Mary Lou Margherio, four sisters and two brothers.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 19, 2016 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis.
