Melvin Ellerbusch

Mr. Melvin Ellerbusch, age 90, of Metropolis, IL, died at 8:55 p.m. on Monday, September 18, 2017 at Massac Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at St. John's Lutheran Church with Rev. Kent Hollis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites.

Melvin married Mildred Horman on August 20, 1950 and this marriage bore two daughters, Joyce and Janet. Mr. Ellerbusch was a lifelong farmer but worked for the Massac County Highway Department, Missouri Portland, and the Unit 1 School District. He was also an Army Veteran serving in WWII.

Melvin is survived by his daughters, Joyce Melcher and husband Bill and Janet Burnett and husband Randy; seven grandchildren, Terry Melcher, Michelle Davis and husband Brad, Brian Melcher and wife Marisa, Jonathan Melcher and wife Catherine, Chad Burnett and wife Kim, Dennis Burnett and wife Shannon and Kirk Burnett and wife Gayla; 14 great grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren; two brothers, Norman Ellerbusch and wife Barbara and Marvin Ellerbusch and wife Diane.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lydia (Logeman) Ellerbusch; wife, Mildred Ellerbusch; one grandson, Jeremy Burnett; one brother, Othel Ellerbusch, and one sister, Velma Lee Schmidt.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 9am until the funeral hour at 11am at St. John's Lutheran Church.

Memorial contributions may be given in Melvin's name to St. John's Lutheran Church 5187 Old Marion Road, Metropolis, IL 62960.
