Gregory Kreuter Obituary
Gregory Tim Kreuter, 49, of Metropolis, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 27, 2017, at 2:30 a.m. in the Hillview Health Care Center in Vienna, IL. Greg was born July 13, 1968, the son of John Delmar Kreuter and Joan Eickholz Kreuter in Paducah, KY.
Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis with Pastor Russ Kreuter officiating. Burial will follow in Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Greg attended Metropolis Schools and graduated from Massac County High School in 1986. While at Massac, he was a member of the Patriots football team. After graduation, Greg attended Full Sail College for sound engineering in Florida and worked as an apprentice sound engineer at the Grand Old Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. He later worked at Harrah's Casino in Metropolis.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Metropolis. He was an avid dog lover and an outdoorsman. He particularly enjoyed bicycling and participating in area bike rides. But Greg is most well-known for his kind heart and the courage he showed while battling a long-term illness which began in his mid-twenties.
He is survived by one brother, John Robert Kreuter and wife Brenda of Vienna; one nephew, John Russ Kreuter and wife Jenny of Vienna; one niece, Beth Ann Seddon and husband Jeff of Mt. Juliet, TN; great nieces, Ella Beth Kreuter and Luciana Marie Kreuter; and great nephews, John Silas Kreuter and Pierce Robert Seddon. He is also survived by aunts and uncles, Lindell and Kathryn Eickholz, Tish and Robert Lewis, and Bob Owen all of Metropolis who have lovingly cared for him as their own, and Dea Burton of Balboa Island, CA; numerous cousins; and special friends, Jimmy Henderson and Darla Dewit.
He was preceded in death by both parents.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 29, from 11 am until the funeral hour at 1 pm at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis.
Memorial contributions may be given in Greg's name to Hillview Healthcare Center, 512 11th Street, Vienna, IL 62995.
