Gerald Haverkamp Obituary
Gerald D. Haverkamp, age 81 of Metropolis, Illinois passed away on Friday, August 25, 2017 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home. Bro. Scott Darnell will officiate. Burial will follow in the Kingston Cemetery.
Gerald was retired from Electric Energy Inc. in Joppa, IL after 25 years of service, worked out of Operating Engineers Local 148, was a lifelong farmer, and was awarded Farmer of the Year, member of First Christian Church in Metropolis and Ft. Massac Saddle Club.
Gerald is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bert Haverkamp; daughter, Jody Haverkamp; son, Jeff Haverkamp and wife Dianne; grandchildren, Jamie Clark and husband Michael, Maggie Fox and husband Shawn, Carrie Haverkamp, Corey Jeffords and wife Amy, Gregg Jeffords and wife Molly, Jamie Jeffords; great grandchildren, Jaelyn & Haley Clark along with several others; brother-in-law, Bill Lindsey and wife Connie; sisters-in-law, Martha Hayden, Kay Denton, Donna Frampton and husband Roger; several nieces and nephews.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth "Buck" Haverkamp and Mildred Pearce Smith; brother, Joe Haverkamp; niece, Vickie Kelley.
Visitation will be held on Monday evening August 28, 2017 from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home in Metropolis.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
Music will be provided by Wanda Strubinger and Logan Libby.
Pallbearers will be Denny Barnett, Larry Markus, Lee Markus, Mike Hicks, Joe Mounce, and Darrell Witt.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Kent Korte, Kim Bakehouse, Michael Williamson, DeWayne Giltner, Jerry Korte, and Donald Obermark.
