Faye A. Garner

Faye A. Garner, 96, of Metropolis, IL, went to be with Jesus Christ our Lord while surrounded by her family on Thursday, November 2, 2017 after a long struggle with Dementia. Faye was born on March 20, 1921 to Dora and Van Costilow. Faye married Marvin C. Garner January 1, 1939. They moved to Joppa from Salem, IL in 1969. Faye was a mother, housewife, homemaker and of the Catholic faith.

Funeral mass will be held at 10am on Monday, November 6, 2017 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Metropolis with Father Michael Mujule officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2pm in East Lawn Cemetery in Salem, IL with Father Ben Stern officiating.

Faye is survived by five children, Mary Roberts and husband Jim of Knoxville, TN, Kathy Johnson and husband DeWayne of Metropolis, Robert Garner and wife Deborah of Metropolis, Greg Garner and wife Carolyn of Metropolis, and John Garner and wife Lori of New Orleans, LA; one daughter-in-law, Virginia Garner of Vandalia, IL; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Doreen Cox and husband Norman of Salem, IL, Betty Lewis of Mountain Home, AR, and Delores Howard of Lafayette, LA; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 50 years, Marvin C. Garner; sons, Marvin Wiley Garner, Mark Garner, Bobby Garner, and Gary Garner; grandson, Brian Garner.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 6, 2017 at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church from 9am until the funeral mass at 10am.

Memorial donations may be given in Faye's name to the charity of your choice.
