Mrs. Dorothy Purcell, age 82, of Brookport, IL, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at her home.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2017 in the Buzzard Roost Cemetery in Brookport, IL. Burial will follow.
Mrs. Purcell was a member of the Highway 45 Church of Christ and the Red Hat Society. She farmed and raised cattle her entire life and retired from the Massac County Courthouse.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Treelady Collins and husband Russell of Clio, WV; son, Everett Purcell and wife Stacey of Metropolis; three grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; brother, Stanley Phillips of Paducah; and several nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Truman and Beatrice Phillips; spouse of over 49 years, Charles "Pete" Purcell; and two great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 4th, at the cemetery from 1:00 p.m. until the graveside service.
Miller Funeral Home in Metropolis is in charge of arrangements.
