William "Billy" Stokes

William “Billy” Stokes, age 82 of Metropolis, Illinois passed away at 9:30 am on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Lighthouse Assembly of God in Metropolis with Rev. Mark Russell and Rev. Bobby Strong officiating. Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery.

Billy was a member of Lighthouse Assembly of God and Maps RVolunteers. Mr. Stokes was a US Navy veteran and retired from USEC.

Billy is survived by his sons, Wm Keith Stokes and wife Donna of Metropolis, IL, Rev. Allan Stokes Sr. and wife Joy of Madisonville, KY; grandchildren, Allan Dale Stokes Jr. and wife Samantha; Sarah Rowland and husband Daniel, Andrew Stokes and wife Jaymi, Faith Gass and husband Dylan, and Jeremy Stokes; great grandchildren, Allan Dale Stokes III, Logan Stokes, Emily Stokes, Joshua Sivils, Aly Stokes, Malachi Stokes, Elijah Robert Gass, Emma Rowland, Daniel Rowland III, and Paisley Jo Stokes; brother, Ronnie Stokes and wife Levon of Mayfield, KY; several nieces and nephews.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Lester E. and Lucille (Crow) Stokes; wife of 55 years, Shirley (Helmantolar) Stokes; son, David Brian Stokes; twin sisters, Karol Sue Stokes and Karon Lue Stokes; sister, Janet Henderson; brother, Sherrill L. Stokes.

Visitation will be held on Thursday evening January 24, 2019 from 5 pm to 8 pm at Lighthouse Assembly of God in Metropolis and Friday, January 25th, from 9 am until the funeral hour.
