Mrs. Stacey Ann Purcell, age 68, of Metropolis, Illinois, passed from this life into Jesus arms on Wednesday, May 29, at her home surrounded by family and friends. Stacey loved to serve others, as she was a retired RN and a longtime Home Health nurse, where she served both the Paducah and Metropolis areas.
On August 15, 1950, Stacey was born to Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gowins in Paducah, Kentucky. She was raised with her sisters and cousins surrounding her. She was a lover of life and enjoyed making people laugh throughout her life. Stacey loved her family and friends; often cooking for them, where was told often she was a great cook. Holidays with her were great.
Graveside services will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 in Buzzards Roost Cemetery with Rev. Jon Cockrel officiating.
Stacey is survived by her husband, Everett Purcell of Metropolis; three daughters; DeLane Hooks fiancé Frank Roehrich of Brookport, Teresa Iles and husband Steven, of Cunningham, Kentucky, Erin Roberts and husband Sam of Smithland, Kentucky; 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; her sister, Connie Kommer of Cartersville, Illinois; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Stacey was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Gowins and Aline Hattie (Laird) Gowins; her in-laws, Charles “Pete” Purcell and Dorothy (Burlingame) Purcell; Also preceding her in death are two granddaughters: ChrisDee Jean Gough and Hailey Madison Hooks. One son-in-law, Robin Hooks and two sisters Norma Stockton and Nova McGregor; two brothers-In-law, Brea Stockton and Don Kommer; one nephew, Shannon McGreger.
Visitation will be held from 11 am to 12:30 pm on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at the Loftus-McManus Brookport Funeral Home in Brookport, IL.
