Naomi A. Wittig, age 90 of Metropolis, Illinois passed away at 9:12 pm on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at St. John Lutheran Church with Pastor Kent Hollis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Naomi was a life long member of St. John Lutheran Church.
Naomi is survived by her son, Don Wittig and fiancé Annie Jackson of Metropolis, IL; daughters, Constance Ashe and husband Stephen of Marion, IL and Susan Piland and husband Bradley of Metropolis, IL; 7 grandchildren, Stephanie Brown and husband Adam of Decatur, IL, Meredith Ashe of Marion, IL, Paul Ashe of Washington, D.C., Arianne Dillon and husband Matt of Paducah, KY, Samantha Parker and husband Tanner of Paducah, KY, Sarah Wittig of Metropolis, IL, Cord Wittig and wife Mallory of Metropolis, IL; 7 great grandchildren, Elise Brown, Kenton Brown, Derek Brown, Anne Marie Dillon, Mac Dillon, Caroline Parker, Fritz Wittig; several nieces and nephews.
Naomi was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Emma (Bremer) Verbarg; husband, Paul Wittig; sister, Ruth Randall; brother, Loren Verbarg.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018 from 1 pm to 3 pm at St. John Lutheran Church.
Her family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Naomi’s name to St. John Lutheran Church, Youth Center Fund, 5187 Old Marion Road, Metropolis, Illinois 62960.
Music will be provided by Tammi Stambaugh, organist.
