Mildred Wilson Obituary

Mrs. Mildred Wilson, 93, of Metropolis, IL, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at Southgate Nursing and Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 12 pm on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at the Miller-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home in Metropolis with Rev. Terry Mathis officiating. Burial will follow in Metropolis Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Wilson was a member of First Baptist Church Metropolis, taught Sunday school and was involved in missions. Mildred traveled twice to Africa to visit her sister in the mission field. She was a graduate of Orlando Senior High School and New Orleans Baptist school of Nursing. Mildred worked at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO and Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis.

Mildred is survived by her children, Wayne Wilson and wife Janice of New Orleans, LA, Susan Ragland and husband Bill of Paducah, KY, Jim Wilson and wife Diana of Grand Chain, IL, and Janet Eck and husband Bill of Highland, IL; seven grandchildren, Doug Gallagher of Paducah, KY, Adrienne Giacalone and husband James of Martinez, CA, Audrey Lewis and fiancé David Tebbe of Alhambra, IL, Meredith Blanque and husband Jonathan of New Orleans, LA, Laura Lackey and husband Tim of Alhambra, IL, Betsy Earnest and husband Stephen of Smyrna, TN, and David Wilson of Paducah, KY; four step grandchildren, Elizabeth Neelley and husband Jason of Metropolis, IL, Becky Lairson and husband Daniel of Alhambra, IL, Bill Eck III and wife Ashley of Highland, IL, and Dylan Hall of Oswego, IL; eight great grandchildren, Phoenix Lewis, Jade Klocke, Rocco Giacalone, Drake Giacalone, Daniel Lairson, Bill Eck IV, Isla Blanque, and Evie Earnest; one sister, Mary Evelyn Fredenburg of Cadiz, KY; one brother-in-law, Harry Haynsworth of Athens, GA.

She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Mary (Davies) Fredenburg; spouse, Ellis O. Wilson; granddaughter, Breanna Wilson; daughter-in-law, Ronda Wilson; son-in-law, David Cooper; brother, David Marshall Fredenburg; and sister, Carol Haynsworth.

Visitation will be held from 10 am to 12 noon on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at Miller-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home in Metropolis.
