Lee Miller Obituary

Mr. Lee Douglas Miller, 82, of Metropolis, IL passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2018 at his home.

There will be no visitation. Private burial services will be held.

Mr. Miller was a retired electronics technician. Lee was a Korean War veteran serving in the Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion Post 306, and was a life member of the VFW, AmVets and Jackson Purchase Rifle and Pistol Club. Lee was the District 15 Commander of IL in 1988, National Aide-De-Camp from 1989-1990, District 15 QM of IL from 1989-1990, on the All-State Team from 1990-1991, Commander of VFW Post 3847 in Metropolis from 1994-1997, NRA Range Safety Officer, and served for many years as the commander of the funeral ritual team. Mr. Miller was also appointed a national deputy chief of staff by the presiding Commander-in-Chief to serve during the 1994-95 administrative year to help establish new VFW posts throughout Illinois.

Lee is survived by his wife of 65 years, Allene (Sudbrink) Miller; one daughter, Lila Libby and fiancé Danny Dunn of Metropolis; two sons, Donnie Miller and wife Vicki and George Miller and wife Sheila all of Metropolis; four grandchildren, Brandi Holder and husband Jason, Cody Miller and wife Kayela, Shannon Garner and husband Greg, and Michael Robbins and wife Amanda; 11 great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Sally Miller of Metropolis and Lillian Dieckman of Golconda; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Moorman and Alvina (Nelson) Miller; one daughter, Karol Sue Miller; one son-in-law, Gary Nelson Libby; two grandchildren, Christopher Libby and Brittany Miller; one brother-in-law, George Dieckman; one brother, Donald Ray Miller.
