Julie Dawn Jacobs, age 56, of Metropolis, IL, drew her final breath on the evening of Tuesday, October 1, 2019 in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by her family and friends.
Julie was a lifetime resident of Metropolis, IL. She attended Metropolis Community High School, where she excelled in basketball and softball. She continued her basketball pursuit, playing for Paducah Community College. Julie was a member of First Baptist Church in Metropolis. She was a teacher's aide for Massac Unit #1 and worked in the banking industry in Metropolis at National State, Banterra, and SIU Credit Union.
Some of her greatest memories were made spending time with her family, trips to the beach, watching her sons succeed in golf, baseball and basketball, and being the best Gammy to her three beautiful grandchildren.
Julie is survived by her husband of 37 years, Rich Jacobs; two sons, Matthew Jacobs and wife Hailey, Mason Jacobs and wife Colleen; three grandchildren, Harper, Sawyer, and Palmer Jacobs; one sister, Rhonda Smyly and husband Wayne; one brother, Todd Sumner and wife SuVonne; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 4, 2019 at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home from 6pm- 8pm.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home with Dr. Joe Buchanan and Donnie Gregory officiating. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ronald and Merlene (Kreuter) Sumner.
Memorials may be given in Julie's name to American Brain Tumor Association.
