Joe Jacobs

Joe E. Jacobs, 90, of Brookport, IL, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013 at his residence.Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at the Brookport Funeral Chapel. Rev. David LeNeave will officiate. Burial will follow at the Mt. Sterling Church Cemetery. Joe was born August 11, 1922 to Rev. Jess and Kate (Rixie) Jacobs in New Liberty, IL. On December 23, 1941, Joe married the late Iralene (Giltner) Jacobs. He was a faithful member of the Bay City Lodge #771 for 62 years. Joe was also a member of the Sword of Bunker Hill for almost 60 years and worked for Iron Workers Local 46 of Springfield, IL, for 62 years.Joe is survived by one daughter, Linda Mittenberger and husband Roy of South Bend, IN; 4 sons, Robert Jacobs, Terry Jacobs and wife Rhoda, and Marty Jacobs of Unionville, IL, and Jerry Jacobs of Brookport, IL; 20 grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 19 step-great-grandchildren; 3 step-great-great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Katie (Rixie) Jacobs; wife, Iralene (Giltner) Jacobs; 2 sons, Ronald E.
