Geraldine Whitelock

Geraldine Whitelock, of Metropolis, Illinois passed away at 4:00 am on Friday, December 28, 2018 at Metropolis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was 97 years old and was born in rural Johnson County. She was the daughter of Abner and Gertrude (Taylor) McFatridge. She taught school for twenty-four years mostly in the Joppa Maple Grove Schools. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Metropolis and the Illinois Retired Teachers Association.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 11 am at the Miller-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home with Rev. Shalom Renner officiating. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.

She is survived by two sons, Lindell Whitelock and wife Linda of Jamesville, WI and Michael Whitelock of Metropolis, IL; two granddaughters, Linda Whitelock of Madison WI and Laura Martin and husband Andy of Frankfort, WI; two great granddaughters, Abigail and Isabel Martin; one niece, Sandra Pankey of Harrisburg, IL.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Lavern Whitelock; her parents; two sisters; one niece.

Friends may call at Miller-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 from 10 am until the funeral hour at 11 am.

Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church, 100 East 5th Street, Metropolis, Illinois 62960.
