Gene Ray Henley, age 66, passed away peacefully on November 19th, 2018 with his daughters, Bryn and Katherine, by his side.
Gene Ray was born in Paducah, Kentucky on March 29th, 1952 to Mark and Martha Henley and raised on a farm outside of Brookport, Illinois. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science from SIU Carbondale and enjoyed raising cattle throughout his life. He was happiest outdoors and his fried bluegill could not be beat. Gene Ray moved to Whitesboro, Texas in 2016 where he lived on a ranch next door to his brother and great friend, JD. His warm smile, gift for storytelling, and ability to liven up any room will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
Gene Ray is survived by his two daughters, Bryn Henley and husband Nathan Woodhouse and Katherine Henley and husband Ben Davis all of Nashvillle, TN; three grandchildren, Henry Woodhouse, Sybil Woodhouse, Esther Davis; two brothers, JD Henley of Whitesboro, TX and Johnny Henley of Brookport, IL; two nieces Tameria Patton and Jacqueline Willhelm.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2:30 pm on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at the Loftus-McManus Brookport Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 pm. The family will hold a private burial.
