Eleanor "Ellie" (Bairunas) Blasdel

Mrs. Eleanor “Ellie” Blasdel, age 81, of Metropolis, IL, died Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at her residence.

Graveside services will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, September 9, 2018 in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens with Rev. Timothy A. Bean officiating. There will be no visitation. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.

Ellie was born on March 31, 1937 to the late Nick and Jennie (Paweski) Bairunas. On June 14, 1955, she married the late Darrel Blasdel and two children, Tammy and Mike, were born to that union. She was always a mother first, as raising her children was her top priority. Mrs. Blasdel was of the Catholic faith.

Ellie is survived by her two children, Tammy Blasdel of Paducah, KY and Mike Blasdel and wife Sharon of Metropolis; two grandchildren, Lindsey Kinser and husband Steve of Metropolis and Lesley Gosa and husband Josh of Lone Oak, KY; three great grandchildren, Luke and Ben Kinser and Grady Gosa; one niece, Jean; two nephews, Mark and Terry.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Robert Bairunas; one nephew, Toby; and one niece, Linda.  

Memorial contributions may be given in Ellie’s name to Project Hope Po Box 125 Metropolis, IL, 62960 or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude’s Place Memphis, TN 38105.
