Charlotte C. Stratemeyer of Metropolis went home to be with her LORD at the age of 95 on August 16, 2018. She was a charter member of Lighthouse Assembly of God (formerly First Assembly of God). She worked alongside her husband, Louie A. Stratemeyer, for twenty-two years participating at the Happy Hearts Senior Center.
Mrs. Stratemeyer was a songwriter. Eleven songs were published in sheet music by John T. Benson Publishing Company and recorded by The Singing Lunsfords.
Charlotte was a nursing home administrator for five years at Magnolia Nursing Home in Metropolis. She managed the Egyptian Trail Motel for many years. She worked at many factories and in later years was a caregiver for many Metropolis citizens. As a caregiver, she was almost always treated as a part of the family. Her main love was God, family, church and music. She played keyboard and sang at the church into her nineties.
Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Lunsford and husband Rev. Donald Lunsford of Pinellas Park, FL, and son, Jay Stratemeyer of Metropolis; five grandchildren, Rev. Brian Wieneke, Randall Wieneke, Rev. Mark Lunsford, Angela Malz and Kayla Harp; ten great grandchildren, Morgan, Sydney and Samantha Lunsford, MacKenzie and Cohen Malz, Briana, Ashley and Alyana Wieneke, Eliza and Lily Harp.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louie A. Stratemeyer; one daughter, Sharon Wieneke; parents, Hershel and Myrtle Creson; three brothers, Carl, Prather, and Gerald Creson; and one sister, Earline Creson.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening, August 23, 2018 from 6 to 8 pm at the Lighthouse Assembly of God, 670 Airport Road Metropolis, IL. Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Friday, August 24, 2018 at the Lighthouse Assembly of God with Rev. Don Lunsford and Pastor Mark Russell officiating. Burial will follow in Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
