Birt "Buzz" Ward

Mr. Birt “Buzz” Ward, age 67, of Eddyville, IL, formerly of Metropolis, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 4:53 am on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Baptist Health Paducah.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Monday, June 25, 2018 at the Eastland Life Church with Pastor Brian Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Metropolis Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Ward was a former member and pastor of Eastland Baptist Church and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. He was a member of the Metropolis Elks and Moose Lodges and enjoyed fishing.

Buzz is survived by his wife of 24 years, Anita (Kingsley) Ward; two children, Jeannie Crowley and husband Eric and Billy Joe Ward and wife Rhonda; two grandchildren, Jakob Stroud and Clayton Crowley; two sisters, Velta Brownfield and husband Bill and Debra Helmick and husband Rick; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Fredrick Birt and Dorotha Mae (Williams) Ward; two siblings, Karon Sue Wood and John Gillis Ward.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 25th from 11am until the funeral hour at 1pm at the Eastland Life Church in Metropolis.

Memorial contributions may be given to Shriners Hospital 2001 S. Lindbergh, St. Louis, MO 63130.
