Mr. Adolphus T. Temple, 82, of Metropolis, Illinois, passed away at 3:20 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019, at Massac Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2019, at Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home in Metropolis with Amon White and Jim Faughn officiating. Burial will follow in Metropolis Memorial Gardens with military rites.
Mr. Temple was a retired Navy veteran and worked at Thane’s Building Service for many years. Adolph was a member of Broadway Church of Christ in Metropolis and attended Happy Hearts Senior Center.
Adolph is survived by his two daughters, Terra Temple of Metropolis and LuAnn Harris of Warren, Rhode Island; two grandchildren, Zak Harris and wife Lindsay of Santee, California and Tyler Harris of Warren, Rhode Island; two half-sisters, Ellen Neal of Petal, Mississippi and Mary Ann Gothart of Scottsboro, Alabama; four half-brothers, Wayne Hill of Knoxville, Tennessee, Larry Hill and Fred Hill of Starkville, Mississippi and Charles Hill of Vickersburg, Mississippi; one aunt, Becky Coffer of Chickamauga, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henson Temple and Anna (Laird) Temple Hill; his wife, Luna (Farley) Temple; one grandson, Matthew Harris; one brother, Wilbern Temple and his family, Laurie, DeAn and Darin; one half-brother, Tom Hill.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019 at the Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be his nephew, Larry Logeman, his cousin, Mitch Laird, John Merriweather, Greg Bradford, Ardell Nance, and Hank Pollard.
