Noble Shinn Obituary
Mr. Noble L. Shinn, age 94, of Metropolis, IL, died Monday, November 6, 2017 at his home with family surrounding him.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday, November 10, 2017 at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home with Luckie Atkinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Metropolis Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Shinn was retired from Burlington Northern Rail Road and a proud family man. Noble was a member of Metropolis First Baptist Church and the NRA.
Noble is survived by four daughters, Janice Lang and husband William, Mary Atkinson, Glenda Cochran and husband Charles all of Metropolis, and Pam Webb and husband Mike of Maumelle, AR; three sons, Stanley Shinn and wife Mary Lou, Noble E. Shinn and wife Pam, and Billy Shinn and wife Susan all of Metropolis; 23 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Roberta Hoffman and Estelle Bourland; special friend, Rose Hannon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, James Arthur Elza Shinn, mother, Josephine May Shinn; wife, Norma Lee Shinn; one son, Lindel Leon Shinn; one daughter, Patricia Jeanette Daniel; one grandson, Lindel Leon Shinn Jr; one great granddaughter, Sabrina Dawn Atkinson; one great grandson, Noah Scott Lang; three sisters, Betty Powell, Marcella Anderson, and Rosalia Thomas; infant sister, Doris Barbara Shinn; two brothers, James Shinn and George Shinn.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017 at the Aikins-Farmer Funeral Home from 9am until the funeral hour at 11am.
Memorial contributions may be given in Noble's name to Metropolis Happy Hearts Senior Center 701 Market Street Metropolis, IL 62960.
