Lawrence Thomas "LT" Kickasola, 95, passed away Tuesday evening, January 24, 2017, at Misty Meadows Assisted Living in Metropolis, Illinois. He was the son of Ellis Jefferson and Lura Bell (Lawrence) Kickasola. He was raised in Unionville and was a lifelong resident of Unionville. He married Pearline Viola (Thomas) Kickasola on December 22, 1944. He was an elder at Mt. Sterling Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a member of Bay City Masonic Lodge No. 771.
LT began farming with his father using a mule-lead plow at the age of 10. He spent the rest of his life as the caretaker of his land throughout the Unionville bottoms. Farming gave LT life-long friends, memories and a passion for agriculture that was well known, if you were around him for any amount of time. Even when he was away from the farm physically, mentally he was always present and eager to hear the latest reports on weather, the market and how his crops were looking. When he wasn't farming or scouting his crops, you could probably find him sitting under a shade tree petting on a "drop off" dog or at whatever restaurant was open in Brookport or as he said "The Restaurant". It didn't matter which one it was. LT loved good food, taking drives through the Unionville Bottoms, trading vehicles and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his daughters: Sharon Pegram and husband Lee from Brookport and Karen Reichert and husband Skip from Grand Chain; his grandchildren: Shane Pegram and wife Heather, Penny Bellamey and husband Tim, Sean Pegram and wife Jennifer, Ginger Taylor, and Jasson Reichert and wife Leah; his great-grandchildren: Jacob Pegram, Alexander Bellamey, Lane Pegram, Lauren Grace Bellamey, Issac Pegram, Madalyn Taylor, Oliva Pegram, Boyd Pegram, Sydney Taylor, Lacey Taylor, Madison Reichert and Nolan Reichert; and his sister, Vida Maess and husband Reuben.
Preceding him in death were his wife: Pearline Viola (Thomas) Kickasola, his parents: Ellis Jefferson and Lura Bell (Lawrence) Kickasola, and his sister: Nora Evelyn (Kickasola) Quint.
